The Ospedale Pediatrico "Bambino Gesù" – Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Health Care – is part of the Holy See and institutionally develops Christian testimony through services and research in the field of paediatric healthcare.
The Ospedale Pediatrico "Bambino Gesù" – Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Health Care – serves according to pontifical rescripts and the determinations and procedure definitions of the Secretary of State.
Hospital management is structured around terms and agreements established between the Holy See, represented by the Secretary of State, the Board of Directors, the President of the Board of Directors, and the Statutory Auditors Committee.
The Holy See, represented by His Most Reverend Eminence Cardinal Secretary of State, nominates the President, the members of the Board of Directors, as well as the three members of the Statutory Auditors Committee and establishes the duration of the term (usually three years).
The Board of Directors is the general direct and organizational administrative body of the hospital. It also has the authority to submit proposals regarding other administrative expenses to the Holy See for approval.
Decisions taken by the Board of Directors, including passing financial statements and annual reports, as well as approval of the minutes are submitted to the Secretary of State.
The President of the Board of Directors is the legal representative of the hospital. The President is assigned authority regarding operating and administrative expenses.
The Statutory Auditors Committee is the controlling body. It monitors and controls compliance with the principles of correct accounting, financial and economic management. It has a voice in financial statement proposals.
It acts independently and refers directly to the Secretary of State, to whom it submits the minutes of its activities as described above.
The members of the Statutory Auditors Committee are registered with the Auditor's register or professionals registered with the Ministry of Justice.
