We would like to invite applications at the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital for one position of research fellowship for the project about Down syndrome which is the leading cause of genetically-defined intellectual disability.
Cognitive impairment is the most striking clinical feature of Down syndrome and it is characterized by learning deficits and memory impairment, particularly in hippocampus-related functions.
The aim of the study is to investigate the potential of a pharmacological treatment to improve cognitive functions and associated psychopathological aspects in children and adolescents with Down syndrome.
The Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry Unit of the Bambino Gesù Chidren’s Hospital led by Prof. Stefano Vicari is opening a research fellow position to tackle this issue.
Job description
Participation in activities related with the ongoing pharmacological clinical trial:
- Neuropsychological and psychopathological testing;
- Support the management of the scientific project;
- Responsible of the enrollment activities;
- Planning, conducting and evaluating scientific experiments and writing reports;
- Disseminate, present and publish scientific results.
Requirements
Psychology degree and experience with data entry and behavioral testing.
Desirable
- PhD in Psychology or Neuroscience;
- Experience in scientific writing;
- Good command of written and spoken English;
- Team player who is able to formulate clear scientific hypotheses and work effectively with collaborators.
