Applications for one position as technician is available at the Research Unit’ Genetica e Epigenetica dei Tumori Pediatrici, Lab RNA editing and modification led by Angela Gallo (Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital) in Roma. Applications will be addressed to the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital for the project focused on “RNA modifications in brain and brain tumors” CODE OPBG 2022/16. The position will be appointed to technicians with experience in molecular biology, neurobiology, or similar.
Full Jobs Description
In our lab, we study the importance of RNA modifications (RNA editing) in brain development/activity and brain cancer. In the brain, RNA editing (mainly mediated by the ADAR enzymes) causes profound changes in both sequence and folding of RNAs (lncRNAs, microRNA, and mRNAs). In this context, RNA modification enzymes play an important role in understanding brain function and brain cancer and can be utilized for innovative therapeutic approaches. Using both molecular biology methods and animal models, our work investigates differences among neuronal/glial cell populations with or without RNA modification enzymes (ADARs) during brain development and during brain cancer onset/progression. We are seeking an experienced technician (3 years, contracts renewal each year) with experience in molecular biology, cell culture, and animal handling. The Research Professional (lab manager or technician) will manage the lab, the lab budget, and inventory. She/he will order, organize and maintain an inventory of all the lab materials/chemicals and instrumentation. Skills:
- Basic experience in mice handling
- Experience in cell/tissues preparation for IHC, IF, WB
- Cell culture
- Expertise in basic molecular biology
Previous research experience relevant to the field of the project would be considered an advantage. Interpersonal relationship skills, predisposition to teamwork, and problem-solving skills will be considered preferential characteristics. The review of applications will begin in April and will continue until the position is filled. Applications, including the applicant’s CV and the name/address of two references, should be submitted to direzione.scientifica@opbg.net, quoting the code OPBG 2022/16.
